(AGI) Milan, June 15 - Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoyinaugurated the Spain National Day at the Expo on Monday. TheSpanish delegation led by Rajoy was greeted by Italy's InteriorMinister Angelino Alfano, the Expo's Commissioner General BrunoPasqualino, Expo's President Diana Bracco, and Milan's MayorGiuliano Pisapia. "Expo Milan 2015 is a success and is provingto be a winning model of organisation and execution," Rajoystated. "I am proud of Spain's presence here, as it cancontribute greatly to the challenges and responsibilities thatthe Expo calls to attention. Progress can only be achievedthrough cooperation and harmony," he said. "The Expo is a placeof beauty for Italy and the world, but also of hope, in that itharbours our expectations of a more just planet," MinisterAlfano commented. "Here, rich countries converse with lessprosperous nations, and it is the place where walls crumble andborders are opened." The Universal Exposition has been avictory for Milan and Italy, he affirmed. Rajoy signed the bookof guests of honour in the Palazzo Italia before proceeding toItaly's Pavilion alongside Alfano. Events and celebrations tillnightfall were organised at the Spanish Pavilion, including ashow by dancers from the Compania Nacional de Danza (CND) and agastronomical performance by Chef Carme Ruscalleda. She is theonly female cook in the world to have received six Michelinstars for her "Sant Pau" restaurants in Barcelona and Tokyo,and "Moments" in Barcelona. (AGI).
