(AGI) Catania, July 8 - The boss and eight members of theCarcagnusi Mafia clan were arrested in Catania on Tuesday in anoperation conducted by the Anti-Mafia Investigative Directorateand the Carabinieri. The police executed the warrants of arrestissued by the investigating magistrate at the request of theAnti-Mafia District Directorate, seizing assets including acompany, shops, real-estate property and bank accounts. TheCarcagnusi clan joined Cosa Nostra when its historic boss,Santo Mazzei, was "baptised" by the Corleone-based boss LeolucaBagarella, the brother-in-law of Toto' Riina, who went toCatania specifically for the occasion in 1992. .
