(AGI) Brussels, Nov 17 - Federica Mogherini chaired her firstcouncil of EU foreign ministers as EU foreign policy chief onMonday. "It is a new start for the Commission and for Europe'sforeign policy", Mogherini stated prior to the meeting. "If wewant to be effective in the world, we have to start being ithere in Brussels". The EU, she added, aims to reorganise itsrelations with Russia. "If Russia is part of the problem, it'salso part of a possible solution" to the crisis in Ukraine, shesaid. The topic "will be explored in depth in the next fewmonths" and is one of the three pillars of the EU's strategyfor the Ukrainian crisis. "Sanctions as a means of exertingpressure work as part of a broader strategy", she noted. "Thenthere's the political process, with the reexamination of therelationship with Russia, and finally the achievement ofreforms in Ukraine; a necessary condition for us to provideKiev with the EU's assistance".
