(AGI) Maputo, Dec. 4 - Mozambique and South Africa have openeda joint inquiry into the poaching of rhinos. The animals arehunted down with the aim of trafficking their valuable hornsabroad. The initiative was taken after 48 kg of rhino hornswere seized on their way from Mozambique to Vietnam viaJohannesburg, reported Mozambique's O Pais newspaper.Investigators have reportedly already identified severalmembers of the Maputo airport staff involved in the illegaltrafficking. According to estimates jointly published byMozambique and South Africa, more than 3,000 rhinos have beenkilled in the two countries since 2008. In November Mozambiqueformally accused Vietnam and China of being the maindestinations for poached ivory and rhino horns. . .
