(AGI) Moscow, Dec. 14 - Kazakhstan and China closed a number ofagreements comprehensively worth 14 billion dollars, mainly todevelop the nuclear sector and the exploration of vast energyand mining resources of Kazakhstan. Through these agreements,the respective gas and oil companies, KazMunaiGaz and CNPC,intend to intensify their collaboration in order to exploreKazakhstan's crude oil deposits in Kumkol and Kalamkas. It wasalso decided to create a mixed company for the production ofnuclear fuel in Kazakhstan, the world's top uranium exporter,to fire nuclear power plants in China and in other countries.The agreements signed on Sunday, before the Chinese PrimeMinister Li Keqiang and Kazakhstan's premier Karim Masimov,also include a huge Chinese-funded 3.8 billion dollar projectto develop deposits of potassa, the basic element used in theproduction of agricultural fertilizers, to bring its currentone million ton production up to 7 million tons in 2025.
