(AGI) Rome, Oct. 19 - Italy used about 5.1 million tonnes ofoil in September, 2.9 percent, or 144,000 tonnes, more than thesame month last year. After correcting for the number ofdelivery days, petrol consumption fell 3.1 percent, or 21,000tonnes, and diesel 1.7 percent, or 33,000 tonnes. Total fueldemand was approximately 2.6 million tonnes, 0.7 million tonnesof petrol and 1.9 million tonnes of diesel. Total demand rose 2percent, 54,000 tonnes, compared to September last year.Registrations of new cars increased 17.2 percent. A total 59.9percent were diesel cars, compared to 52.9 percent lastSeptember. In the first nine months of the year, fuelconsumption rose 3.1 percent to 44.3 million tonnes from thesame period the year before. Petrol consumption fell 0.7percent, 42,000 tonnes, and diesel rose 2.2 percent, 368,000tonnes. Total fuel consumption rose 1.4 percent to 23.3 milliontonnes. New car registrations were up 15.2 percent in the firstnine months, with 55.2 percent being diesel cars, compared to55.5 percent in the first nine months of last year. (AGI) . .
