(AGI) Beirut, May 29 - The jihadists fighting in Syria and Iraqhave proclaimed an "Islamic caliphate" in the territoriesbetween Aleppo in northern Syria and the governorate of Diyalain eastern Iraq. In an audio recording distributed on the web,the extremist group the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)announced that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been appointed caliphand is now the leader of all Muslims wherever they are.
