(AGI) Rome, June 19 - Chefs at Milan Expo are due to enter theGuinness Book of Records with the longest pizza in the world,at 1,300 metres. They are doing this in support of Italy'sapplication to have pizza included on the UNESCO IntangibleCultural Heritage List, said farmers' association Coldiretti,one of the promoters of an event held as part of "World TomatoWeek". This event at Expo will see the launch of internationalaction to raise awareness with a special Italian andinternational petition in support of the negotiations withrepresentatives of 163 countries involved in making the finaldecision. Italy gave the go-ahead to #pizzaunesco on Mar. 26.The event on Saturday June 20, will begin at 10am at theColdiretti pavilion, at the start of the Cardo, south entrance,where, along with the president of Coldiretti Roberto Moncalvo,there will be among others Commissioner of the ItalianPavilion, Diana Bracco, Agriculture Minister, Maurizio Martinaand President of Univerde Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio. Italianpizza will be distributed and people will be able to watch theexciting work of acrobatic pizza makers who will compete in aspectacular display to capture the attention of Italian andforeign visitors and persuade them to sign the petition insupport of the inclusion of pizza on the UNESCO list. On theoccasion a study of the value of pizza in Italy and abroad willbe presented. The creation of the pizza will involve about 200people, including 60 pizza chefs, who will use 2 tons of tomatosauce, 1.5 tons of mozzarella, 300 litres of extra virgin oliveoil, and 2 tons of flour. Once made, about 35,000 slices offree pizza margherita will be distributed in 18 hours along theDecumano where pizza makers will spread the dough preparedearlier on 2000 on baking sheets, filling and baking it withthe aid of five specially designed mobile ovens.
