(AGI) Rome, Sept 18 - Rome Finance Police have recovered anEtruscan sphinx dating back to the 4th Century B.C. which wasstolen from the necropolis of Cerveteri on the night of May 14and 15. The theft caused an uproar as it had been carried outby three hooded individuals pushing a cart right in front ofthe museum's security cameras. The images went round the world,showing the lack of security at the Etruscan necropolis inLazio, one of Italy's 50 Unesco World Heritage sites. Thesphinx had been hidden in nearby fields before beingtransported abroad, where it would have entered the undergroundinternational market for ancient works of art. (AGI) . .
