(AGI) Abu Dhabi, Feb 23 - An important Italian business missiondevoted to the construction sector took place in the UnitedArab Emirates. Fifty-five firms participated in an initiativeorganised by the Dubai office of ICE (Italian Foreign Tradeoffice) and the Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in cooperationwith the Associazione Nazionale Costruttori Edili (Italiandevelopers association). The mission involved major firms inthe industry and numerous enterprises entering the Emiratesmarket for the first time, including SACE and top bankinginstitutions. The programme kicked off with an institutionalstopover in Abu Dhabi where Ambassador Giorgio Staracepresented an overview of the market, the legal framework andguidelines on how to operate in the Emirates. The meeting wasfollowed by another one held at the Abu Dhabi Chamber ofCommerce, with the participation of the major players in thelocal real estate market (Arabtec, Adar, Masdar and the AbuDhabi Urban Planning Council). Another presentation on themajor government projects in the pipeline was given at theDepartment of Transport and at the Tourism Development &Investment Company. A packed agenda characterised thesubsequent days, with meetings between the major industrialgroups of Dubai (Nakheel, Emaar, Damac) and the Dubai Expo 2020Committee, the Road & Transport Authority and the Municipalityof Dubai, aimed at acquiring more information on the worksscheduled for Expo Dubai 2020. The Italian constructionindustry is expanding on international markets. In the Gulfarea, Italian developers are growing faster than in the rest ofthe world, with over 36 percent of the overall value of newacquisitions in 2013. (AGI) . .
