(AGI) Milan, Sept. 19 - A Palestinian delegation was welcomedat Milan Expo 2015 on the event's National Day of Palestine.The Italian Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, MarioGiro, together with the mayor of Milan, Giuliano Pisapia,welcomed the delegation with the words "Ahlan, hello, welcome". "Participation of Palestine at the Universal Exposition isa testimony to the vitality of the relationship with Italy,"the secretary continued. "The role of Palestine is afundamental reflection of the theme of Expo 2015: it teaches usthat life can flourish even under difficult conditions, forexample in an area without water." The Palestinian Pavilion,located in the cluster of Drylands, shows the central role ofthe olive tree, "the main source of livelihood for the peopleand, at the same time, a symbol of peace and a metaphor of thelong Palestinian history," Giro pointed out. Deputy PrimeMinister Ziad Abu Amr, head of the Palestinian delegation,thanked the Italian government for their welcome and said hewas "happy to participate in Expo 2015 together with the other148 countries and organisations. The theme of this World Exporeflects mankind's becoming aware of the greatest problems itfaces. These problems will not go away unless all the people ofthe world learn to really collaborate effectively. I hope thatour pavilion will show our culture and our traditions to allvisitors, as well as the ample investment opportunities and thewill to live in peace and freedom of our country," Ziad Abu Amrconcluded. The celebrations for the National Day ofPalestine continued with a performance by El-Funoun, a localfolk dance group, and Le Trio Joubran, a musical trio fromNazareth. (AGI) . .
