EU promises 10 million euros for rebuilding Mozambique

(AGI) Maputo, Mar 5 - The European Union (EU) has promised upto 10 million euros to help reconstruction in Mozambique afterJanuary's devastating floods. The funding will largely be usedto rebuild the national railway line between the north andsouth of the country, according to the daily newspaperNoticias, which reported that the national authority for roadsand bridges and the EU were looking at alternative crossingsfor the Liungo river, in the central Mozambican province ofZambezia. Some 160 people died in the floods, more than 160,000were made homeless and 400 schools were destroyed. . .
