CNH Industrial sells first gas-powered vehicle to Israel

(AGI) Turin, June 15 - The first Iveco Stralis gas-poweredvehicle has been sold by the partnership of Fiat CryslerAutomobiles (FCA) and Industrial and Israel's Fuel ChoicesInitiative (IFCI). It was agreed in a Memorandum ofUnderstanding that FCA and CNH Industrial, with some of theirbrands, would collaborate to research and develop the use ofnatural gas as a transport fuel. The vehicle is anIveco-produced heavy-dury Stralis 4x2 truck powered bycompressed natural gas (CNG) and fitted with a Cursor 8 EuroVIIveco engine. It will be delivered to the Fridenson Group, oneof Israel's leading logistics companies by MCA, the importer ofIveco's and FCA's other brands. David Fridenson, owner and CEOof Fridenson Group, said: "As an innovative company, we arealways on the lookout for environmentally friendlytechnologies. We are looking forward to cooperating with Ivecoon CNG vehicles, and believe that the savings demonstrated inthis pilot (programme) will spur a shift towards CNG." OriLahav, CEO of MCA, said: "As part of the memorandum betweenFCA, CNH Industrial and the Israeli government, we are proud toplay a leading part in implementing CNG vehicles in Israelitransportation. We would like to further emphasise ourcommitment to promote this technology, which is greener as wellas cost-effective, and are confident that this is the firsttruck among many." MCA will also import a CNG 12-metre city busproduced by Iveco Bus. The company's partnership with IFCI aimsat helping Israel increase the use of alternative fuel with asignificant portion of its fleet being equipped by 2020. . .
