(AGI) Katsina, Nov 28 - At least two suicide bombers, backed upby fifteen or so armed men, carried out an attack killing atleast 64 people and injuring another 126 at the Great Mosque inKano on Friday. One of Nigeria's most famous spiritual leaders,Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusa, leads prayers at the mosque, in theturbulent north-east of the country. After the two bombers blewthemselves up outside the mosque, the gunmen shot peoplefleeing from the mosque at close range, according to police.The crowd lynched four of the attackers, the rest are said tohave got away. The emir, also known as Muhammad Sanusi II, wasnot in Kano at the time of the attack, but is currently inSaudi Arabia, where he arrived on Thursday night from Paris,the BBC reported. Only last week he exhorted northeasternNigeria, a Boko Haram stronghold, to take up arms against theso-called 'African Taliban', which the army interpreted assuggesting that it was incapable of defending its owncivilians. . .
