(AGI) Rho (Milan), Oct 17 - U.S. Secretary of State, JohnKerry, visited the Expo Milano 2015 on Saturday. He said:"Producing more food is only part of the challenge; we mustalso manage it better...because a third of the food produced isdiscarded even before it is brought to the table." Kerry alsorecalled that one person out of nine wakes up and goes to bedhungry and that 50 percent of child mortality is caused by lackof food. These problems are destined to get worse "if weconsider that the world's population is growing steeply andwill reach nine billion over the next 35 years," he said. Inorder to meet the challenge, said the U.S. Secretary of State,we will need more healthy food and we must increase foodproduction by 60 percent between now and 2050. In order to cutwaste, it is instead necessary to invest "in the requiredinfrastructures to bring fresh and healthy food where it isconsumed." (AGI). .
