'Orgoglio Italia' week kicks off at Expo on Tuesday

(AGI) Rho (Milan), June 1 - Expo 2015 will be celebrating theanniversary of the Italian Republic, along with the rest of thecountry, on Tuesday. The celebrations mark the beginning of'Orgoglio Italia' week, which ends on June 5 with a visit fromthe country's President Sergio Mattarella. 'Orgoglio Italia'badges will be handed out to visitors. The official programmestarts at 11:00 a.m. local time with a performance from theItalian Youth Choir, which will be repeated three times duringthe day. At 5:00 p.m. a marching band will head a procession of600 representatives of all the Italian entities that haveplayed their part in making Expo happen, each of whom willcarry an umbrella in one of the colours of the national flag.Accompanied by around 90 civil volunteers, the group will crossthe Decumano and Cardo Sud roads - where it will form the word'Italia' - and then move along the Cardo Nord to the LakeArena. The celebrations will culminate in the Albero della Vita(Tree of Life) show, created ad hoc for the occasion. (AGI). .
