(AGI) Rome, Feb 26 - The image of Made in Italy products is tobe given a worldwide boost. Under a Ministry of EconomicDevelopment (MISE) plan, the number of companies - small tomedium-sized enterprises in particular - is set to rise, alongwith Italian quotas of international trade. Last year's tradebalance closed with a record 42.9 billion euro surplus (thebest European result after Germany). Initiatives to attractforeign investment in Italy will also be underpinned by anextraordinary 260 million euro promotional plan. EconomicDevelopment Minister Federica Guidi signed the implementingdecree on Thursday. The plan was set out during a meeting oninternationalisation at MISE on Thursday, co-chaired by MsGuidi and Foreign Affairs Minister Paolo Gentiloni. EconomyMinister Pier Carlo Padoan, Minister for Infrastructures andTransport Maurizio Lupi, Minister for Agricultural PolicyMaurizio Martina and Under-Secretary of the Ministry of CultureFrancesca Baracciu all took part in the meeting. Also presentwere senior figures from the Italian Institute for ForeignTrade (ICE), the Deposit and Loan Bank (CDP), the SIMESTItalian financial development institution, the Conference ofRegions, the Confindustria industrial association, theUnioncamere chambers of commerce association, the Rete ImpreseItalia business network, the Italian Banking Association (ABI)and the Alleanza Cooperative cooperative alliance. . .
