(AGI) - Cape Town, 27 nov. - South Africa and Africa will be onthe receiving end of new measures from China to help thecontinent in the areas of industrialisation, food security,public health and disease prevention, the Chinese foreignminister Wang Yi announced yesterday. Speaking at the foreignministry's 15th Lanting Forum in China, Wang Yi said themeasures will be announced during the upcoming Forum onChina-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) which will be held inJohannesburg from 2-5 December 2015. FOCAC, established in2000, aims to promote bilateral trade and cooperation betweenChina and Africa. "China will help Africa achieve self-development and createa peaceful and stable environment for long-term progress. We donot attach political conditions to assistance, nor do weconstrain or interfere in the domestic affairs of Africancountries," Wang Yi said. He said the two sides have much incommon and hold similar stances on many international andregional issues. They also share suffering and hardships thathelp them understand each other and cooperate for development.Wang Yi called on the two sides to combine China's advantage indevelopment experience and production with Africa's advantagein natural and human resources. He said the summit will focusmore on improving people's livelihood, poverty reduction andinvestment in the least developed countries. "China willpromote cooperation with Africa, from general trade andproduction capacity to project contracts and investment. "Thesummit will send a strong signal to the international communityabout the importance, respect and support China gives toAfrica. We hope that will strengthen the confidence of theinternational community and bring more input to Africa," theminister said. China is willing to work with other parties tocontribute to Africa's peace and development, Wang Yi added.(AGI).
