Renzi said Italy was ready to assistthe EU and France in their diplomatic and military efforts."The coalition should be as broad and inclusive" as possible,the Italian PM continued, who also asked to give "the highestpriority to the question of Libya because it is likely to bethe next emergency." Meanwhile, Germany has announced it willsend Tornado fighter-bombers to Syria for reconnaissancemissions. Angela Merkel informed parliamentary groups from thethree government parties (CDU, CSU and SPD) of a possibleGerman contribution in the form of a frigate, air tankers torefuel fighter planes and the use of satellites. So far,Germany has concentrated its efforts on training and equippingKurdish fighters. Berlin has already pledged to send 650soldiers to Mali to help France in stabilising the Africancountry and allowing French troops to move to Syria to fightIS. Prime Minister David Cameron is asking the Britishparliament for permission to carry out airstrikes in Syriabecause the UK "cannot subcontract its security to othercountries." The vote of Westminster could come as early as nextweek. Meanwhile, tensions between Russia and Turkey are risingahead of a meeting in Moscow between Hollande and with RussianPresident Vladimir Putin. Moscow has explicitly called onRussian citizens in Turkey to return home. Russia has gonetaken economic measures against Turkey to retaliate against thecountry's "act of aggression". According to Turkish media, ithas also detained fifty Turkish businessmen in Krasnodar, inthe south of Russia, accusing them of lying about the reasonsfor their trip. They were reportedly fined and sentenced to 10days detention. Putin has complained that Turkey has notapologised for downing a Russian warplane and has not proposedto pay damages or to punish those responsible. TurkishPresident Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded that it should beRussia to offer apologies for violating Turkish air space. . .
