(AGI) Rome, Nov. 26 - President of the Republic of Egypt,Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, met Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Italian oiland gas giant Eni, in Cairo on Thursday. In this follow-up tomeetings in August and October, the pair assessed progress inthe planned development of the Zohr field, where drillingactivities will restart in January 2016, as well as the timingand associated costs. The meeting was an opportunity to reviewall Eni's assets in Egypt in order to maximise production, withparticular focus on the Nooros discovery, which, with the entryinto production of the second well, will reach a potential of5MMsmc/d. The two also discussed the prospects thatmight open up from the development of a gas hub in the EasternMediterranean, which would allow the pooling of Egyptiantransport infrastructures and exports with other nearbydiscoveries, such as those of Cyprus and Israel. Eni hasbeen present in Egypt since 1954, where it operates through itssubsidiary IEOC, and has been a pioneer in the exploration andexploitation of gas resources there since the discovery of CampAbu Maadi in 1967. The company is the largest producer ofhydrocarbons in the country with an equity production of about190,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. (AGI) . .
