(AGI) Rome, Nov 25 - Checkpoints or security barriers will soonbe set up at railway stations in Florence, Venice and Turin.The announcement was made by Franco Fiumara, head of theItalian State Railways' corporate protection service, on Radio24's Cuore e Denari programme. "The barriers started off as adeterrent against vandalism and have been and continue to be aneffective measure, leading to a more than 80 percent drop incrime. In the emergency situations of the last few days, thebarriers at stations in Milan and Rome have also become asupport to anti-terrorist security operations." Given theresults, he added, these would also be set up in Florence,Turin and Venice. (AGI). .
