(AGI) - Karachi, 24 nov. - Pakistan loses a female jet pilot in crash during a training session. According to Pakistan AirForce, Flying Officer Marium Mukhtiar was flying a trainingmission on an FT-7PG aircraft with Squadron Leader Saqib Abbasias they encountered a "serious in-flight emergency". The maleofficer, Abbasi, sustained minor injuries, the air force added. "Both the pilots handled the serious emergency withprofessionalism and courage and tried to save the ill-fatedaircraft till the very last minute," the statement added. It further said that in order to ensure the safety ofcivilians on the ground, they were forced to eject and theaircraft crashed. No damage has been reported on the ground. In a very traditional Pakistani society, Maryam was amongthe handful pilots serving the air force. It is estimated onlyaround 20 women jet pilots are serving at the PAF. The 24-yearsold Marium hailed from the southern port city Karachi. The PAF stated this was the first such incident in terms ofa women pilot losing life in line of duty. The crash took placein Kundian, Mianwali district, about 175 kilometres southwestof the capital city Islamabad. (AGI).
