(AGI)- Beirut, 24 nov. - Hezbollah denounced a bill passed lastweek by the Us Senate to tighten sanctions against the party bytargeting its financing and main media organization Al-ManarTelevision, describing the decision as a "crime" against it andall liberals in the world. The bill, which still needspresidential approval, says it "prevents hezbollah andassociated entities from gaining access to internationalfinancial and other institutions". "This is a new crime byamerican institutions against our people, and against theliberals in this world," a source from Hezbollah'sparliamentary block told. The source added that the new billwas "another way for the Us to try and exert control in theworld, disregarding international laws that should be practicedbetween global nations and organizations". The bill aims to sanction international financialinstitutions that knowingly engage in business with Hezbollahand its enablers. It also identifies the organization'ssatellite and internet providers, which support its televisionnetwork. The Us has issued many sanctions against Hezbollah inthe past, for reasons such as its military actions againstIsrael or its involvement in the Syrian war. Individuals inAmerica have been sentenced in the past to prison for allegedlyaiding Hezbollah financially or providing satellite televisionservices to Al-Manar. In July this year, the U.S. governmentimposed sanctions on three leaders of Hezbollah and abusinessman in Lebanon, saying they were key players in thegroup's military operations in Syria. (AGI).
