(AGI) Moscow, Nov 23 - Italy and Russia have launched anexchange scheme for musicians and opera singers. Twelve youngItalian and Russian musicians will attend training courses andapprenticeships at the countries' most prestigious theatres andmusic schools. The project was proposed last year by CesareMaria Ragaglini, Italian Ambassador in Moscow, at the 50thanniversary of the first concert by Milan's La Scala theatre inRussia. A Russian businessman and art-lover has provided150,000 euros for the first edition and guaranteed funds until2020. About 20 Italian and Russian music institutions wereasked to provide ad hoc training curricula. After carefulevaluation, the first exchange of 12 artists began in October.It involved about 10 music conservatories and opera theatres inthe two countries: the Italian Accademia Teatro alla Scala, themusic conservatories of Pesaro, Naples, Venice and Turin and,in Russia, the Bolshoj and Mikhailovskij Theatres, the GalinaVishnevskaya Centre and the Moscow Conservatory. Training willalso be extended to other music institutions such as MaggioMusicale Fiorentino, the Rossini Opera Festival, the Accademiad'Arte Lirica of Osimo and the Gnessin Academy in Moscow.
