The fact that U.S. retail sales did rise as expectedwas not enough to stimulate share purchases, while the easingof import and export prices casts a cloud on future decisionsof the Federal Reserve. The Dow Jones was down 0.13 percent, at176,026.71 points, the S&P 500 was lower by 0.12 percent, at1,995.10 points and the Nasdaq slipped 0.07 percent to 4,588.52points. . .
