(VELINO) Roma, 15 Jul - The Italian ambassador to the UAE,Giorgio Starace, speaking at the presentation to the UAE'spress about investment opportunities in Italy, told PEI News,"We have recently received significant requests from theemirate's government for a visit to Italy by Crown PrinceKhalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan, who wishes to establish directrelations with our premier and strategic partnerships withItaly." The event, attended by seven journalists from the mostimportant newspapers in the UAE, was moderated by the Directorof the Foreign Ministry's Internationalization Agency, VincenzoDe Luca, and attended by Ambassador Starace. De Luca said,"This initiative is being promoted with our embassy in AbuDhabi to make known to the emirate's media the great potentialfor bilateral relations and also the special partnership ourcountries are establishing for Milan's Expo 2015 and Dubai'sExpo in 2020." Starace added, "The Emirates are Italy's mostimportant trade partner in the Arab world. It isn't an enormouscountry, but one with great potential that complements ourmarkets and is well connected by airlines. What is important isthat our foreign ministry agencies and the embassy should actas a gateway for our companies, putting them in contact withlocal players for partnerships or investments." Attentiontowards Italy has recently increased and the two diplomatsconfirmed that, "We are dedicating a great deal of time toattracting investments by important financial groups in theUAE. This is a favourable moment because the recession is over,while prices are still attractive and consequently greatattention is being paid by sovereign funds to the Italianmarket and even more to our government," added the ambassador. vel.
