(AGI) Sofia, Sept 11 - Seven Italian scholars of internationalrenown will attend the 12th World Congress of the InternationalAssociation for Semiotic Studies, titled "New Semiotics:Between Tradition and Innovation ". Hosted in Sofia fromSeptember 16 to September 20 by the New Bulgarian University,the event will be attended by Paolo Fabbri, Ugo Volli,Ganfranco Marrone, Patrizia Violi, Augusto Ponzio, SusanPetrilli and Isabella Pezzini. The opening ceremony will befollowed by the broadcasting of an exclusive interview withUmberto Eco, focused on the congress. The Sofia congress willbe attended by the top names in the field and has as astrategic goal the widening and strengthening of the network ofworld semioticians. This explains the strong Italian presenceto the event, which is supported by the Italian CulturalInstitute of Sofia and sponsored by the Italian embassy atSofia.
