(VELINO) Roma, 5 Dec - he Italian presidency of the EU wasclosed by a concert by jazz pianist Stefano Bollani atStockholm's Konserthuset, the venue for the Nobel Prizeconcert. The Italian Embassy in the Swedish capital staged ninebriefings and six cultural events during the Italian presidencyof the European Council. The closing concert was attended by300 guests, many from the world of politics, diplomacy andbusiness, who showed enthusiastic appreciation for theperformance of the renowned Italian jazz pianist. The concertwas opened by Hans Blix, a Swedish politician, lawyer andpublic official. He served as foreign minister and head of theAudit Committee and became the head of the International AtomicEnergy Agency. He listed the political and economic challengesthat Europe faces. There is the economic situation in theeurozone, which will be a test for the durability of theEuropean dream, in addition to the crises of the countries ofNorth Africa and the Middle East. Mr. Blix said he was optimistthat European Central Bank President, Mario Draghi, and HighRepresentative for the EU's Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini,would successfully manage the transition of the presidency. TheItalian Ambassador in Stockholm, Elena Basile, thanked Swedishcompanies and recalled some of the priorities of the Italianpresidency and highlighted the results. She pointed out thatEurope now has a more balanced position on the Stability andGrowth pact and a greater emphasis on investments and combatingunemployment through the plan presented by EU CommissionPresident Jean-Claude Juncker. vel.
