Russian-Italian tourism meeting to open in Milan

(AGI) Moscow, Sept 16 - The first Italy-Russia cultural andtourist convention (Forum Turistico-Culturale Italia-Russia)will take place in Milan's Royal Palace on Sept. 18 and 19. Themajor players in the industry, from government to touroperators, experts and investors will be there to assess futuredevelopments, in spite of the difficult period thatItalian-Russian relations are currently in because of theUkrainian crisis. The announcement of the upcoming gatheringcame out at a joint press conference by the Italian ambassadorto Russia, Cesare Maria Ragaglini, and Russia's deputy culturalaffairs minister, Alla Manilova. The gathering in Milan was theresult of cooperative efforts between Russia and Italy'sculture ministries, the Italian embassy in Moscow and the cityof Milan. It is part of the Russian-Italian joint tourism year,2013-2014. The forum will be opened by Italy's cultural affairsminister, Francesca Barracciu and Minister Manilova.Participants will include the president of the region ofLombardy, Roberto Maroni, Milan's Mayor Milano Giuliano Pisapiaand the director of Milan's Expo 2015, Piero Galli. Russianparticipants will include Ambassador Sergei Razov, the Russianpresident's special representative for international culturalcooperation, Mikhail Shvidkoi and the vice president of theRussian Union of the Travel Industry, Alexandr Osaulenko. "Theforum will take place in a difficult period of our relations,but it testifies to the depth of our relations, in theframework of which, tourism is one of the most dynamicaspects," said Ragaglini. The intention is to hold the eventtwice a year. (AGI). .
