(AGI) - Rome, July 21 - The conference entitled "Achieving aTransformative Post-2015 Development Agenda: The Contributionof the Rule of Law to Equity and Sustainability" currentlybeing held at FAO headquarters in Rome will also address anassessment of how the rule of law can contribute to improvingsocial-economic development and its impact on achieving keyobjectives in the post-2015 agenda. (AGI) - Rome, July 21 - The conference entitled "Achieving aTransformative Post-2015 Development Agenda: The Contributionof the Rule of Law to Equity and Sustainability" currentlybeing held at FAO headquarters in Rome will also address anassessment of how the rule of law can contribute to improvingsocial-economic development and its impact on achieving keyobjectives in the post-2015 agenda. This event has beenorganised by the Foreign Ministry in cooperation with theInternational Development Law Organization (IDLO) within theframework of Italy's EU presidency. The conference, organisedagainst the backdrop of the current debate at the UnitedNations on the post-2015 agenda for development, will alsoassess the importance of the rule of law in sustainabledevelopment's three different sectors, economic, social andenvironmental. The conference was opened by Deputy ForeignMinister Lapo Pistelli and the IDLO's director general, IreneKhan, who emphasised how the rule of law is essential forachieving fair growth, inclusive social development andenvironmental sustainability, adding that it must play aleading role within the framework of this transformativeagenda.
