(AGI) Rome, Dec 1 - A conference to discuss research andinnovation in Italy, Spain and Portugal was held in Rome onMonday. It was organised by Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairsand International Cooperation, Farnesina, to discuss advancesin technology as set out in the Rapporto sull'Innovazione 2014from the Fondazione Cotec. Those attending included AndreaMeloni, director general of Italy's promotion abroad, thepresident of Fondazione Cotec and the Italian National ResearchCouncil, Luigi Nicolais, the directors of the Cotec Foundationsof Spain and Portugal and representatives of firms andstart-ups.The report highlighted major achievements byuniversities, research bodies and firms in Italy against aninternational perspective. It also underlined issues andperformance problems linked to the economic crisis.Cotec-Europa was created in 2003 to pinpoint the best publicpolicies to enhance research, and promote technologicalcompetitiveness among the three countries and boost industrialpotential. The three foundations organise, in a differentcapital each year, a conference for representatives of thegovernments and those from the research and industrial sectorsto outline action on innovation and promote collaboration. . .
