(AGI) Lagonegro, Dec 9 - The brother of Italian pop star PinoMango, 60, who died of a heart attack onstage on Sunday, hasdied just one day later. Giovanni Mango, 75, died during avigil ahead of his brother's funeral. Pino Mango collapsedwhile singing one of his most famous hits, Oro, at the PalaErcole in the southern Italian town of Policoro and wasimmediately ambulanced to a hospital in Matera, but was dead onarrival. The news of his death hit the social networks almostinstantly, with posts by inconsolable fans on Twitter andFacebook, espressing their thoughts and quoting excerpts fromhis hits, such as 'Our swallow has flown away ... a musicalpoet'. His official Facebook page announced the news with thewords 'Pino is dead.' Giuseppe Mango, known as Pino, was bornin Lagonegro, province of Potenza, on Nov. 6, 1954. He went toRome in 1975, where he cut his first LP - La Mia Ragazza e unGran Caldo, which came out in 1976. Pop star Patty Pravo likedtwo of the songs so much, she used them in her album Che Vuoiche Sia ... Se t'ho Aspettato Tanto. He rose to success duringthe 80s, winning the San Remo Festival in 1985 with Il Viaggio,and appeared there again seven times as a singer and twice as acomposer. He worked with Mogol, Lucio Dalla, Franco Battiato,Claudio Baglioni and Andrea Bocelli, amongst others. Hisversion of Nino Buoncore's famous song Scrivimi went on air onApr. 25, a taster for his new album L'Amore e Invisibile,released by Columbia Sony Music on May 27. The album includesthree new tracks, reworkings of songs by Sting, U2, De Andre,Battisti, Minghi, Don Backy, the Beatles, Bowie and PinoDaniele, as well as a traditional Sardinian song. (AGI) . .
