(AGI) Beijing, Mar 24 - The first Italian school founded inpartnership between the Italian embassy in China and ReggioChildren, the centre for the promotion of the rights andpotential of boys and girls founded in 1994, is to open inBeijing. Ambassador Alberto Bradanini and the president ofReggio Children, Carla Rinaldi, launched the project in apresentation at the embassy. The new school, which will open inSeptember, has already received more than 25 registrations forthe next school year, and will accept children of kindergartenand first grade elementary school levels, aged from three tosix years. The teaching method is one of "learning by doing,"Carla Rinaldi told a news conference. This will help thechildren to deal with "more materials, more languages and morepoints of view and at the same time to have active hands, thoughts and emotions". The method is "based on the learningprocess of children. We start from the children to get betterresults." Among the strengths of this approach are pedagogicaland teaching coordination of staff, the participation offamilies and an educational environment tailored to thechildren's needs. The new educational project, said the Italianembassy, will serve to "improve relations between two greatcultures, Italian and Chinese, promoting the great heritage ofthe Italian language and the country's best pedagogy". ReggioChildren will also be present at Milan Expo, where thefoundation will be responsible for the Children Park, whichaims to raise children's awareness of environmental pollution, waste and inequalities in nutrition.
