New Italian honorary consulate opens in Siberia

(AGI) Moscow, Dec 5 - A new honorary Italian consulate hasopened in Chelyabinsk, Siberia. It is being run by businessmanAntonio Piccoli, who has worked in the region for more than 20years. The actor Michele Placido, who is popular in Russia forhis role in the TV series La Piovra (The Octopus), was invitedto the opening. The Italian delegation was led by the ConsulGeneral in Russia, Piergabriele Papadia de' Bottini, theDirector of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, MaurizioForte and the Director of the Italian-Russian Chamber ofCommerce, Marisa Florio. Several events were also held topromote cultural, economic and tourism links between Italy andthe Chelyabinsk region. These included an exhibition called"Rome, Russia and the Villages of Italy". Representatives from40 Italian companies also attended the opening in theRussia-Italy Economic Forum with 80 Russian companies alongwith Governor Boris Dubrovsky and several regional ministers.(AGI). .
