(AGI) Washington, March 3 - Reaching a deal with Iran on itsnuclear energy program would not prevent Tehran from developingnuclear weapons, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuwarned the U.S. Congress on Tuesday. "We've been told for overa year that no deal is better than a bad deal. Well this is abad deal, a very bad deal. We're better off without it," theIsraeli leader said. "The alternative to this deal is a muchbetter deal. A better deal that doesn't leave Iran with a vastnuclear infrastructure and such a short breakout point."Adherence to the program's restrictions might be monitored byinternational inspectors, but "inspectors document thoserestrictions, they don't stop them", he stated. Iran's nuclearprogram could in fact be brought to a complete halt if onlypressure were maintained on the "vulnerable" Iranian regime,Netanyahu insisted. "This deal has two major concessions: one, leaving Iran with a vast nuclear program and two, lifting therestrictions on that program in about a decade. That's why thisdeal is so bad. It doesn't block Iran's path to the bomb; itpaves Iran's path to the bomb," he said. Over the years, Tehranhas proved that it cannot be trusted, Netanyahu stated, furtherciting the fact that Iran refuses to include the topic ofIntercontinental Ballistic Missiles on the negotiating table.U.S. President Barack Obama said Netanyahu's stance was"nothing new", CNN reported.. .
