The event was attended by Carlo Calenda, DeputyMinister of Economic Development, by the UAE's Minister ofEconomy, Sultan Al Mansouri and Italian Ambassador GiorgioStarace, with representatives of about 400 Italian and UAEfirms. Sultan Al Mansouri pointed out that the recovery of theEmirates housing market and a series of major real estateprojects have caused significant benefits for the economy,particularly tourism, hotels, trade and transport andlogistics. Deputy Minister Calenda stressed that the Emiratesis a strategic partner for Italy. The event was the thirdItalian business mission in seven years. "Our goal is tocontinue to deepen and strengthen the already flourishingrelationship between Italy and the UAE, focusing in particularon those areas of Italian excellence that meet local interest,such as food, equipment for oil and gas, bio-medical equipmentand renewable energy."
