(AGI) Rho (Milan), Sept 16 - Mexico held its National Day atMilan Expo 2015 on Wednesday, opening the celebrations with theusual national anthems and official speeches. Expo CommissionerGeneral, Bruno Pasquino, praised the country not just for its"extraordinary beauty and archaeological heritage", but alsofor its "industrial power and technological modernity". The DGof ProMexico, Francisco Gonzalez Diaz spoke at length about hiscountry's Expo pavilion, explaining how "it represents ourcountry. The corn cob (by which it is inspired) is the symbolof our food culture and the basis of our diet that is one ofthe two cuisines in the world that UNESCO has recognised aspart of the intangible heritage of humanity. Mexico presentsitself at Expo - he concluded - as a country where traditionand innovation coexist." The day will include initiatives atthe pavilion, as well as costume performances.. .
