(AGI) Rome, Sept 12 - Some 170,000 people have no access totreatment for arterial fibrillation in Southern Italy, anARAPACIS study carried out by the Italian Society of InternalMedicine (SIMI) has shown. The study, which has just beenpublished in the Internal and Emergency Medicine journal, showsthat one in four people develops atrial fibrillation andcardiac arrythmia at some point in their lives. There are overa million sufferers in Italy, around 800,000 in the north andcentre of the country and over 300,000 in the south, where itis slightly less widespread, affecting 1.9 percent of thepopulation compared with 2.4 in the north. . .
