(AGI) Turin, Sept 30 - 'Camera', the Italian Centre forPhotography, opened on Wednesday in Turin. The centre aims atenhancing and promoting the Italian language of images, incomparison with various international experiences. Eni supportsthe initiative, having long used photography as a means tocommunicate. This is shown in the corporation's photo archiveof over 500,000 images taken by great photographers as well asby its own people, to tell the story of the company and itstechnology. 'Camera' is hosted in a building which was thefirst public school of the Reign of Italy. Eni has avideo-installation of five photos from its archives, which canbe blown up and 'navigated' thanks to a parallax andvideo-compositing technique. The images cover 'future','storytelling', 'relationship', 'emotion' and 'research'. "Thepartnership with Camera is an alliance which is familiar to us,which we preserve and enhance -it is a cultural initiative thatmatches our communication vision," organisers said. Theexhibition covers about 1000 square metres, and Camera willorganise three major events each year, together with morecomplementary shows, alternating Italian and internationalevents. The first is to be a retrospective dedicated to BorisMikhailov, featuring 300 works by the Ukrainian artist, fromthe 60s to the recent 'Euromaidan' revolution. In January,'Italian 1968-78' will open, featuring one of the most crucialmoments in Italian history. There are also pans to "educate oureyes in times when there is no longer a separation between theperson who takes a picture and the person who enjoys itsproduct," said the director of Camera, Lorenza Bravetta. TheTurin-based foundation will also enhance the Italianphotographic heritage, by organising various workshops in thepublic and private archives. "Camera proves that collaborationbetween public and private institutions is the best and mosteffective and constructive way of sharing ideas and resourcesand implementing high-profile projects, to contribute tocommunity development. This is the main reason the Bankpromoted a photography event to become a language which willenrich the cultural offer of the city of Turin and the rest ofthe country," said Michele Coppola, Cultural Heritage officerof Intesa Sanpaolo bank, the institutional partner of Camera.(AGI). .
