(AGI) Sarajevo, June 24 - The Piazza Vittorio Orchestra hasheld a concert in Sarajevo at a World War I commemoration. Theevent hosted at the National Theatre in the Bosnian capital,inaugurated a programme of cultural and sporting eventsorganised by the "Sarajevo Heart of Europe" Foundation, ofwhich Italy is a member alongside France, Spain, Austria, GreatBritain, Germany and Belgium. The Piazza Vittorio Orchestra'sconcert was financed by the Presidency of the Italian Council'sMission for the World War I Centenary, and sponsored togetherwith the Italian Embassy. With 18 musicians from 10 differentcountries, songs in nine languages and music from everycontinent, the Roman orchestra sent a message ofmulticulturalism and tolerance, emphasising the fact thatdiversity is a synonym of wealth and an antidote for allconflict. The week-long commemorations will end on June 28 withdelegations arriving from all over Europe to attend the concertby the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the National Library,burned down during the conflict in the Nineties and recentlyrebuilt with European funds.. .
