(VELINO) Roma, 16 Jul - Italian diplomacy has once again beensuccessful abroad, and the Italian Embassy in Islamabad hasmanaged to establish a dialogue and work with localinstitutions to resolve a situation that had paralysed anItalian company, and consequently other internationalactivities, for many years. The embassy played a leading rolein these negotiations also involving two other embassies.Business had been blocked by a Pakistani ban on importingcomponents, a ban introduced in December 2011 by the previousgovernment, but not revoked by the current one. The embassy played a leading rolein these negotiations also involving two other embassies.Business had been blocked by a Pakistani ban on importingcomponents, a ban introduced in December 2011 by the previousgovernment, but not revoked by the current one. The Italianembassy immediately started to work with institutions and inparticular the six ministries running Pakistan's economic andfinancial policies. The embassy also constantly providedsupport to the company accompanying managers to summits whenthere were meetings with government officials. Thanks to thishard work, the law has been changed and the ban lifted TheItalian company involved is a leader at an international levelin the compressed natural gas sector (CNG) and has beenoperating in Pakistan for a decade making significantinvestments worth various millions of euros.
