(VELINO) Roma, 22 Jul - A two-day event kicked-off in New Yorkon July 22 dedicated to fabrics and accessories for the thehigh end of the garment trade. Fifty-seven Italian companies,coordinated by the Italian Trade Commission (ICE), are takingpart in Premiere Vision New York. Of the Italian companies, 31are from Lombardy, nine from Tuscany, eight from EmiliaRomagna, seven from Piedmont and two from Veneto. According tothe New York office of ICE, quoting U.S. Department of Commercefigures, U.S. textile imports in 2013 increased by 1.54 percent from 2012 to 6,467.46 billion dollars. Italy is the fifthbiggest supplier of cloth with a value of 367.4 million dollarsand a market share of 5.68 percent. It is also the largestsupplier of woollen fabrics, with a value of 49.15 milliondollars and a market share of 36.56 percent. Italian exports oftechnical and industrial fabrics to the U.S. rose by 29.02percent or 83 million dollars for a market share of 3.66 percent, while knitted fabrics increased by 6.57 per cent comparedto 2012 to 40.46 million dollars and a market share of 4.46percent. vel.
