(VELINO) Roma, 3 Jul - Italian diplomats in Mexico City, tradeand industry representatives and Foreign Ministry officials inRome are to host a web seminar on business and investmentopportunities in Mexico. Scheduled for July 10, the meetinglooks to provide Mexico insights for Italian business playersoperating in mechanical industry, infrastructure and greeneconomy sectors. Jointly chaired by Ambassador AlessandroBusacca and the Foreign Ministry's Vincenzo De Luca, theinitiative falls within the scope of broader web-basedinternational market awareness initiatives launched by theItalian government and business counterparts in the EmiliaRomagna region. With a population of 116 million, a GDP of justunder one billion euros, Mexico, a strategically positionedmember of NAFTA, has huge economic cooperation potential. Keypoints of interest for prospective Italian investors includethe Mexican government's 2013 approval of a sweeping reformspackage, set to overhaul the country's telecoms, taxes,competition rules, finance industry and energy sector. As partof the package, Mexico City is planning large-scale publicinvestments in transport and infrastructure between 2013 and2018, with a view to overhaul its country's airports, ports,roads and railways. vel.
