(AGI) Shanghai, Sept 24 - The Italy pavilion at the ShanghaiDesign Week is to host an exhibition on innovative townplanning and architecture proposals drafted by twenty Italianarchitecture studios. The focus of the exhibition, which opensin the second week of October, is on fulfilling eastern China'ssustainable urban development and heritage needs. The pavilion,sponsored by Italian interior design magazine "Interni", willalso act as a showcase for Italy's furniture and designcompanies. Shanghai is a prime target for Italian designersand architects seeking a China foothold: in 2013, cultural andcreative industries contributed 12 percent to the city'seconomic output, creating 1.3 million jobs. Italy's presenceand visibility in the local design and architecture market hassignificantly increased thanks to agreements to establish twinSino-Italian Design Exchange Centre facilities in Florence andShanghai. The October exhibition's sponsors include theItalian Consulate in Shanghai and the Shanghai UNESCO CreativeCity Promotion Office. (AGI). .
