"I hope the film willconvey the admiration we all feel for the consistency of a lifebased on rigour and charity and that this will inspire people,"said the director, who also wrote the screenplay. The U.S. filmmagazine said the movie will focus on the life and work of thecardinal before he became Pope. The screenplay looks at thelife of Father Bergoglio and his battles in Argentina againstthe abuses of the dictatorship, his social work in the slums,and his fight against prostitution, slave labour, drugtrafficking and corruption. It is based on the biographywritten by Vatican correspondent, Elisabetta Pique. The storywill begin with a meeting, during the Conclave between theyoung Spanish journalist and Cardinal Bergoglio and will endwith a behind the scenes reconstruction of the papal election.. .
