(AGI) Rome, Feb 19 - Around 500 Feyenoord fans in Rome for thematch on Thursday evening vandalised the city's Piazza diSpagna with paper bombs and broken bottles, rendering thefamous Spanish Steps area inaccessible to tourists. Police wereforced to intervene with tear gas. The group then boarded busesto the stadium. Around 6000 Dutch fans have arrived in Rome tosee the Europa League match; on Wednesday night, there was anaffray in Campo de' Fiori, ending in 23 Dutch arrests and 10Feyenoord fans taken into custody. Most likely drunk, theoffenders threw bottles and such at police, who were in thesquare to prevent such a situation. Of the 23, 16 between theages of 20 and 28 were immediately identified as keytroublemakers and charged with resisting arrest, battery,brawling, violence against officers, and carrying objects withcriminal intent.
