(AGI) Rho, Milan, Oct 12 - The Green River Project was themajor topic on Monday at Expo Milan 2015. During avideoconference in the Casa Corriere at the presentation ofEni's NAOC/Green River Project Farmers Day, Massimo Insulla,managing director of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC), Italianenergy giant Eni's subsidiary in Nigeria, said: "During thenext five years we intend to consolidate the role of the GreenRiver Project as a point of reference for the agriculturaldevelopment of the whole region. The Green River Projectincludes numerous initiatives aimed at supporting theagricultural development of the rural communities in which weoperate and not only; its primary aim is to fight poverty,diminish undernourishment, create jobs and generally stimulatesocial and economic development. In Nigeria, Eni has put inplace its cooperation model with oil producing countries, amodel based on widespread sustainable socio-economicdevelopment." He went on: "The communities represent thereal essence of the Green River Project: it is thanks to themthat the project has effectively reached out to the localpopulation, immediately turning into a symbol of innovation.The strong sense of belonging revealed by farmers with respectto the Green River Project is for us a strong acknowledgementof the good results achieved by the programme." Eni, inNigeria, has about 1,300 employees, more than 90 percent ofwhom are Nigerian. Nigerian Agip Oil Company operates in fourstates with a population of around 20 million people, and is incontact with more than 36 local communities. (AGI) . .
