(AGI) Rome, March 15 - A public row was launched on Instagramon Sunday between Dolce & Gabbana and Sir Elton John. The row, which culminated in a reciprocal threat to boycott each other, was kicked up by the statements made by the fashion twosome onsame-sex marriage. The British pop star attacked Dolce &Gabbana after they said they were especially unfavourable tochildren delivered by surrogate mothers. Sir Elton John who, with his husband David Furnish, have two children born throughIVF, launched a dogged attack on Instagram: "How dare you referto my beautiful children as 'synthetic'... And shame on you forwagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF - a miracle thathas allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, tofulfil their dream of having children. Your way of thinking isarchaic and out of date, just like your fashion. I will neverwear Dolce & Gabbana clothes again." The row immediatelyshifted to other social media, spreading to other rock starslike Ricky Martin, who had two chidrend through a surrogatemother, and who launched an appeal to the two Italian fashiondesigners: "your voices are too powerful to be used to spreadhatred: wake up, we're in 2015. Start loving each other!".Former tennis champion Martina Navratilova, who is married toJulia Lemigova, wrote: "We'll have to wait and see if thisnonsense will hurt their (Dolce & Gabbana's) bank account."Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain's widow, with her usual cool, saidshe was ready "to gather all her Dolce & Gabbana accessoriesand burn them". At this point, Domenico Dolce responded:"I'm Sicilian and I grew up with a traditional family, made upof a mother, a father and children. I am very well aware of thefact that there are other types of families and they are aslegitimate as the one I've known but in my view this is what isright and what was transmitted to me, along with the value oflove and family. This is how I grew up but it doesn't mean thatI do not approve of different choices. I spoke about my ownview, without judging other people's decisions." His words wereechoed by Stefano Gabbana, who said: "We firmly believe indemocracy and the fundamental principle of freedom ofexpression that upholds it. We talked about our way of seeingreality, but it was never our intention to judge other people'schoices. We do believe in freedom and love". (AGI). .
