Thedeath toll of the NATO shelling that destroyed theorganisation's hospital in Kunduz has risen to 19. The closingof the hospital, the only one in north-eastern Afghanistancapable of treating serious cases, will have a devastatingimpact on the civilian population. It is no longer operationaland "all critical patients have been referred to other healthfacilities and no MSF staff are working in our hospital," saidKate Stegeman, the communications manager for Doctors WithoutBorders. She added: "I can't confirm at this stage whether ourKunduz trauma centre will reopen or not." (AGI) . .
