(AGI) Washington, March 19 - The Italian embassy in the U.S.has organised two conferences in Washington with famous Italianfood historian and cooking expert Francine Segan ahead of theopening of Expo in Milan. The first event takes place onThursday at the Library of Congress, the largest library in theworld, where the expert will speak about tradition andinnovation in Italian cuisine. On Friday, the embassy has setup a conference where she will talk about the history ofchocolate, from the discoveries by Christopher Columbus to thehazelnuts and chocolate of Sicily's Modica and inventions andsuccesses of Italian products. "I am honoured to present twoconferences this week in Washington," she said. "Italy hascontributed so much and continues to innovate with suchcreativity that I could give a different lecture every day fora whole year and not cover the whole subject." ItalianAmbassador in Washington, Claudio Bisogniero, said: "We aregrateful to Francine Segan for all that she does to spread theknowledge of the rich culinary culture of our country. Thesetwo events we will be an excellent showcase for Expo Milan2015, the biggest event ever organised on the topic ofnutrition, opens on May 1 with the participation of more than140 countries.". .
